A day of reflection

Today was Dierdre’s first day at her new job in La Jolla. Orientation and cases. It’s been raining on and off all day, not hard just a light drizzle which kept me inside. It gave me a chance to take a breath and relax some. The last month has been a whirlwind and I feel like my head has finally cought up with my body! What day is it anyway? Lol

It’s Wierd not prepping for class for the upcoming week. I usually have things I need to do or take in… There’s a habit that will need breaking! I hope the “kids” are doing ok, I know Tom is taking good care of them, but I still can’t help wondering about them.

I have my first meeting with GIA on Monday morning. It’s to handle all of the financial stuff… Yuck…. At least I’ll get to see the campus and get my student ID and parking pass. I can’t wait to get this thing going! I’m like a kid 2 days away from Xmas!!! I’ll take a few pics tomorrow.

Home at last!

After a stressful build up we finally hit the road. The trip was pretty smooth and we made it to California in good shape. Dierdre had to drive the jeep with the Uhaul trailer attached, she did an amazing job! We had an appointment to look at a small studio in Escondido….. Creepy, creepy dungeon, super creepy!!!  To a motel and on to the next one in the morning.

We found a cabin 2 blocks from the beach in Leucadia, looks like it will work ok. It’s super small and pretty run down but it’s 2 blocks from the beach!! We have one more appointment left in the hills outside San Marcos. We’re gonna look at that before we commit.

We’re here in the San Elijo Hills, man it’s beautiful! The house is super nice and the room is large with a bathroom. Sorry beach cabin….. I think we’re home. The homeowner is very nice and I think we’re gonna get along here just fine.

Un packed and now to return the Uhaul trailer. 2 blocks from the Uhaul place we were coming around the corner and ……..

All lugs sheared, tire passed us on the road, Jeep skidded to a stop!!! Glad I was driving! We’re ok, greatfull we weren’t on the highway. We actually had just exited!! Holy crap that was a close one. We spent our first day here at the jeep dealership with a busted up green machine! Lol
Greco has been really good to Dierdre. So far super accommodating. Got a rental for the week……..

Oh that makes it feel better!! Kind of like shiny black ice cream!!! Lol

Jeep should be fixed by Tuesday. What a wild ride! We’re in our new place, safe and ready to relax alittle. Time to explore!

The big send off

I’d like to extend a humongous thank you to my sista from anotha mister!! Miss Rosee put together a great farewell for us today!

After a hectic day of final packing and trips to storage it was really nice to be showered in love by all our peeps. Even with the rain and cool, overcast weather you all came out to send us off. Means a lot. It was a great gathering and I tried to spend time with everyone.

Thanks to all for pitching in, making such nice edibles, laughing and telling tales and making us feel loved. We’re gonna miss you all!!

Good bye MCC

Today was a sad day, it was my last day as the Jewelry instructor at Mohave Community College. Its been an amazing 6 years there and ill miss it a lot. I think most of all ill miss my “kids”. Even though the majority of you are retired you will always be my kids! I’ve watched you all blossom from wonky little silverlings who weren’t sure they could do it to some amazingly creative jewelry artists. Y’all did me proud!!

Enough with all the mushy stuff and….. NO I wont fix your bezel!!   LOL

In the vacuum of my exodus I leave you a new instructor….”THE MAN” Tom Henderson. He has been my right hand man from the beginning. Sometimes the right one too! I wouldn’t have been the instructor I was with out him. I find a great measure of comfort and relief that its him that I pass this torch to. Very talented and extremely capable of furthering your education.

This is going to be an amazing adventure for me, thank you all for your part!

To be continued……….
